RIO RANCHO, N.M. – The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has provided a mortgage-free home to the family of fallen New Mexico State Police Patrolman Justin Hare. The home was delivered as part of the foundation’s 2025 Season of Hope, a nationwide campaign to honor America’s heroes by gifting 50 mortgage-free homes between December 1 and Christmas Eve.
Patrolman Hare grew up in Logan, New Mexico, and dedicated his life to serving others. He volunteered as a firefighter at 16, worked as a wildland hotshot battling the 2014 Washington wildfires, and helped establish the Colfax County Rapid Response Volunteer Fire Department before joining the New Mexico State Police in 2018.

On March 15, 2024, Hare responded to assist a stranded motorist on Interstate 40 near Tucumcari in the early morning hours. After offering the driver a ride, Hare was shot without warning. The suspect fled the scene, leaving Hare critically injured. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Hare succumbed to his injuries. He was 35 years old.
Hare leaves behind his partner, Daizzare, and three daughters, including a baby born six months after his death.
“This home is truly a blessing,” said Daizzare Hare. “When we lost Justin, I was pregnant with our third daughter, and I was overwhelmed. The Foundation gave us hope and a sense of comfort that we would be okay.”
Tunnel to Towers Chairman and CEO Frank Siller said, “This mortgage-free home is our promise to his family that his sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
The foundation plans to deliver 50 homes this month and more than 200 homes in 2025 to families of fallen and catastrophically injured first responders and military members.
