Jal, NM(KKOB) — Three people are dead after a shooting in the far southeastern community of Jal. According to the Lea County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to an RV park off of NM highway 18 in Jal for a report that several people had been shot.
Jal police and EMS crews were at the scene when they arrived, and found a man and a woman shot to death and another man still alive with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities identified the victims as Alvaro Garza Garcia and Andrea Rodriguez, who were pronounced dead at the scene. The third person, was identified as Juan Morales. He was taken to a hospital in Kermit, Texas where he was later pronounced dead.
The Lea County Sheriff’s office says the shooting incident was isolated and also determined that Morales was the suspect and say that the investigation is still ongoing.
