ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO — About 1,100 toys are headed to children in need thanks to donations collected by the City of Albuquerque’s Parks and Recreation Department.
For the third year, the department partnered with Toys for Tots, gathering gifts at multiple sporting events throughout the season. Volunteers say the effort is both fun and rewarding, adding a charitable element to community activities.
The need for holiday gifts in Albuquerque remains high. According to local organizers, thousands of families face financial challenges during the season, and programs like Toys for Tots help fill the gap.
Toys for Tots, run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, began in 1947 and has delivered more than 627 million toys to over 281 million children nationwide. The Albuquerque chapter works with community partners to ensure local kids have something to unwrap during the holidays.
