ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO – The South Broadway Cultural Center is hosting its annual exhibition honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe, a tradition that dates back more than a century. The event opens Friday, December 12, with an artist reception from 5 to 7 p.m. in the center’s gallery.
This year’s exhibition features a community altar created by Los Guadalupanos, serving as a focal point for reflection and cultural connection. The celebration also coincides with the gallery’s 30th anniversary, adding another milestone to the occasion.
The tradition began in 1924 and commemorates the first apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe in 1531 on the hill of Tepeyac in Mexico. Over the decades, the exhibition has become a cornerstone of the South Broadway neighborhood, fostering unity and cultural heritage.
