Albuquerque, NM(KKOB)- For the first time in nine years, the Lobos will be playing in a bowl game outside of New Mexico. The Lobos, who shared the Mountain West Conference final standings, will travel to Phoenix to take on the University of Minnesota Gophers in the Rate Bowl on December 26th. The game will be played at Chase Field in Phoenix, and will be broadcast live on ESPN.
The Lobos haven’t played in a bowl game outside of the state since 2004 when they played in the Emerald Bowl in San Francisco. This will also be the third time New Mexico will face a team from the Big Ten Conference. The Lobos lost to Michigan at the beginning of the season, then defeated UCLA in Los Angeles and now will face the Gophers.
