Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –A Penasco man was sentenced to more than 21 years in prison for a deadly stabbing on Christmas in 2022. Court documents state that Byron Sanchez was involved in an altercation with the victim at his residence in Penasco. Both individuals were under the influence of alcohol and during the altercation Sanchez stabbed and killed the victim. Sanchez placed the victim’s body in a bedroom at the residence. Law enforcement discovered the body on January 11th. Sanchez pled guilty to second degree murder. After serving his 21 year sentence he’ll be subject to five years of supervised probation.
