Santa Fe, NM (KKOB)-Homeless high school students in New Mexico that meet attendance and academic requirements, could receive $500 a month as part of a new first-of-its kind program.
350 students in grades 10-12 across 12 school districts and one charter school, will be enrolled in the program by the Public Education Department.
The 3-year program received just over $2-million from the state legislature.
According to Public Education Secretary Mariana Padilla, the program “is designed to give students facing homelessness more stability so they can stay in school and graduate.”
