Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Sunland Park, New Mexico is looking to capitalize on a major renovation project planned for a border bridge in nearby El Paso. The federal government is finalizing plans for multimillion-dollar renovations at the Bridge of the Americas cargo lanes. The work is expected to take at least three years and likely lead to a permanent ban on trucks there. For decades, Sunland Park has been pushing for a border crossing that could be a catalyst for development not just in that border community, but also for west Juarez neighborhoods like Anapra, which are among the poorest in that city.
