Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Nominees have been selected by three county commissions in SE NM to replace Nicholas Paul in the Senate. Paul, a republican in Alamogordo announced his resignation in mid-October due to health reasons after less than a year in the seat. Senate Dist 33 covers parts of three counties, Otero, Chaves and Lincoln with all three selecting different names. The nominees are current state rep, John Block, Republican from Carlsbad, Lincoln County Commission Chair, Mark Fischer and Rex Wilson, who was the Southern Region director of Presbyterian Medical Services until 2024. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham will choose a senator from the list before the 30 day legislative session begins in January.
