ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO – Albuquerque drivers saw an unusual sight yesterday—a wild pig sprinting through city streets, dodging cars and police officers.
According to APD, the animal was first reported near a busy intersection, prompting officers to respond quickly to prevent accidents. Witnesses say the pig moved fast, weaving through traffic and forcing drivers to slow down.
After a brief chase, officers managed to safely capture the animal without injury to anyone involved. The pig was transported to the Westside Animal Shelter, where it is being cared for while officials determine its origin.
Police thanked the public for their patience during the unexpected pursuit, which caused minor traffic delays but no crashes. The incident sparked plenty of social media buzz, with photos and videos of the “porky pursuit” circulating online.
Authorities have not said whether the pig escaped from a local farm or was roaming freely, but they confirmed it will remain at the shelter until arrangements are made.
