Tragedy has hit the Dallas Cowboys organization with the death of Defensive End Marshawn Kneeland from an apparent suicide.
Texas Department of Public Safety and Frisco, Texas police say that Kneeland’s body was found early this morning after being involved in a chase with DPS troopers Wednesday night.
Police initially found Kneeland’s car crashed along a freeway in the Frisco area and that Kneeland had apparently taken off on foot from the scene. Troopers then used K-9’s and drones to try and find him. The report stated that his body was found about three hours after finding his vehicle, with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. ESPN reports that during the search police received information that Kneeland had “expressed suicidal ideations.”
Kneeland who was just 24-years old, was drafted by the Cowboys in 2024 in the second round out of Western Michigan University. In his final game Monday night, he scored a touchdown after recovering a fumble in the endzone caused by a blocked punt.
The Cowboys players are not expected to be at The Star practice facility today since the team is on their bye week.
