ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO – A section of Interstate 40 west of Albuquerque is closed following a police-involved shooting early Monday morning.
Albuquerque police say the incident happened around 4 a.m. near mile marker 140, close to the Route 66 Casino Hotel. One person was shot and taken to the hospital. No officers were injured.
Eastbound I-40 is currently shut down at the scene, with traffic being diverted onto the frontage road. Drivers can rejoin the interstate several miles ahead at Atrisco Vista Boulevard. One westbound lane is also closed.
The Multi-Agency Task Force is investigating. No further details have been released.
