Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –The Artesia Police Department and other emergency crews responded to an explosion at the HF Sinclair Navajo Refinery this Friday morning. Police have announced online that the situation is under control and has been extinguished by emergency response teams. Several injuries were also reported at the plant, which is one of Artesia’s largest employers. Thick smoke was seen coming from the facility, and members of the public were asked to shelter inside with windows and doors closed if they were in the path of the smoke. At this time, air quality and safety conditions are being monitored by the refinery. All roads around the area have been reopened.
