ALAMOGORDO, N.M. — State Senator Nicholas Paul announced Tuesday that he is resigning from the New Mexico State Senate, effective October 14, 2025.
Paul, a Republican representing District 33, cited recent health concerns and a need to focus on family as the reason for stepping down. The district includes parts of Otero, Lincoln, and Chaves counties.
“Serving the people of District 33 has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Paul said in a statement. “I’m deeply grateful to the citizens of Otero, Lincoln, and Chaves Counties for their trust and support.”
Paul also expressed confidence in the district’s future and thanked his colleagues, staff, and constituents for their support during his time in office.
