ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A hot-air balloon struck power lines Monday morning in a northwest Albuquerque neighborhood, prompting a swift response from emergency crews.
The crash occurred on the 100 block of Roehl Road NW, just south of Paseo Del Norte and Edith Boulevard. According to officials, the balloon became entangled in the lines before Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) workers safely removed it.
The pilot was the only person onboard at the time of the crash. His wife told KOAT that he was not injured.
Residents were advised to avoid the area while crews assessed electrical hazards. The balloon has since been packed up and removed from the scene.
This is a developing story. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
