Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — The New Mexico State University Foundation has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise $10,000 to support the appearances of the university’s mascot, “Pistol Pete”. ‘Funds from the “Complete the Pete” campaign will help cover the cost of Pistol Pete’s attire and travel expenses for the students who take on the mascot role. Pistol Pete’s attire includes a vest, chaps, holster and cuffs, and costs more than $2,000 per student plus regular repairs and maintenance. The New Mexico State University Foundation said five full-time students rotate in the school mascot role. The campaign has raised $3,357, and will continue until Dec. 31st.
