ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Daniel Chavez, a local business owner and candidate for Albuquerque mayor, announced he is ending his campaign following recent polling results.
Chavez, who owns a parking company, said he no longer sees a viable path forward after an Albuquerque Journal poll over the weekend showed him with less than 6% support. Despite suspending his campaign, Chavez’s name will still appear on the ballot.
Six candidates remain in the race as the city moves closer to election day. Chavez’s decision comes as the field narrows and voter attention shifts toward leading contenders.
Chavez has not endorsed another candidate at this time.
