Albuquerque, New Mexico – Albuquerque police are investigating three separate deadly shootings that occurred across the city this week.
The first happened Tuesday night at the Ridge Apartments near Tramway Boulevard. Police say 17-year-old Angelo Tafoya was shot and killed during a drug and gun transaction that escalated into a robbery. Two teens, Austin Olimb and Ezekiel Ulibarri, were later charged with murder and multiple other felonies.
On Thursday afternoon, APD officers responded to a shooting near Edwards Drive NE, close to Juan Tabo and Spain Road. A man was found with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene. One person was detained for questioning.
Later that night, police were called to the Rio Volcan Apartments on Ladera Drive NW. Officers found a man dead from a gunshot wound. APD’s Homicide Unit is investigating. No suspect information has been released in that case.
All three investigations remain active.
Earlier in the week, on Sunday, Bernalillo County deputies responded to a double homicide outside an O’Reilly Auto Parts store in the South Valley. The shooting happened near 2712 Sunshine W Plaza Dr. The suspect reportedly told investigators he feared for his life.
According to city crime statistics, Albuquerque has seen 50 homicides so far in 2025, with firearms used in the majority of cases.
