
Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –22 year old David Degroat will be staying put. Today District Judge Emilio Chavez granted a motion to keep Degroat in jail. The judge citing the violent nature of the crime, as well as his alleged “deliberate concealment” and “willingness to assist” in it. Degroat faces charges of first degree murder and conspiracy, as well as tampering with evidence in the killing, dismemberment and disposal of his roommate 25-year-old Matthew McLaughlin, in northern New Mexico. Rainor Joiner – Degroat and McLaughlin’s 23-year-old roommate and fellow serviceman – also faces charges in the case. Joiner is set to go on trial next year.
