Albuquerque, NM — Bernalillo County is taking steps to improve safety along a high-risk stretch of roadway in the South Valley. Officials have announced the Coors Boulevard Pedestrian Safety Project, targeting the corridor between Gun Club Road and Blake Road, an area that has seen more than 1,200 crashes, 18 fatalities, and 17 serious injuries since 2015.
The initiative will focus on key infrastructure issues including missing sidewalks, poor lighting, and a lack of crosswalks, aiming to make the corridor safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.
Residents are invited to learn more and share input at an open house scheduled for Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the South Valley Academy gym/cafeteria, located at 3426 Blake Road SW.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the project team, voice safety concerns, and review proposed improvements. Spanish interpretation, light refreshments, and children’s activities will be available.
