Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –Eight months into a “Johns Operation,” APD says they have arrested 78 people for prostitution. The department’s Special Victims Unit says their focus for the operation right now is along Central. Officers are working with local organizations to hand out backpacks with hygiene supplies, clothing, and other essentials. Spokesperson Amanda Christensen says that while prostitution is illegal in New Mexico, when they’re dealing with the sex workers, they want to make they’re not arresting a victim who is being forced to conduct prostitution.
