ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The City of Albuquerque is taking action at the site of a deadly crash that claimed the life of a 19-year-old cyclist in July.
Mayor Tim Keller announced Thursday that a new HAWK signal will be installed near the intersection where the crash occurred. The on-demand red light system is designed to stop traffic in both directions, allowing pedestrians and bicyclists to cross safely.
The driver involved in the July crash remained at the scene, according to police.
City officials say the new signal is expected to be fully operational by late October.
