Dozens of Stops, Citations Issued as School Year Begins
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — With the school year just getting underway, the Albuquerque Police Department is ramping up enforcement in school zones to keep students safe. Officers have already made 56 traffic stops and issued 99 warnings and citations near local schools. Two vehicles have been towed.
APD recently posted a video showing officers actively patrolling school zones, reminding drivers to slow down and stay alert. Police say the goal is to prevent accidents and ensure children can get to and from school safely.
Drivers are urged to pay close attention to posted speed limits and avoid distractions, especially during morning and afternoon drop-off times. APD emphasized that safety in school zones is a shared responsibility—and violations will be taken seriously.
