CLOVIS, N.M. — Chilling testimony was heard Monday during a court hearing for a Clovis man charged in the death of his 5-month-old son.
A witness told the court she saw Jared White strangling the baby, identified as Jojo. White was arrested in July after the child was found unresponsive. He told investigators he had left the baby in a bouncer seat for about an hour and later found him tipped over and not breathing.
However, investigators reported finding possible strangulation marks on the child. They also described the home as being in poor condition, with multiple smoking pipes and animal feces covering much of the interior.
White has been released on bond and is currently under house arrest with an ankle monitor. He faces multiple charges, including child abuse.
