ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A person is dead following a house fire in northeast Albuquerque Tuesday afternoon.
Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to the blaze just before 3 p.m. on McKnight Avenue NE, near Indian School Road and Moon Street. When crews arrived, they found heavy flames and smoke coming from the garage.
Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within 15 minutes. One person was found dead at the scene. Their identity has not yet been released.
No firefighters were injured during the response. Investigators believe the fire began and was contained in the garage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with both Albuquerque Fire Rescue and Albuquerque police involved in the case.
