
RANCHOS DE TAOS, N.M. — New Mexico State Police say a person of interest connected to a shooting in Ranchos de Taos has been taken into custody.
The incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday near Espinosa Road. Two people were injured, though the extent of their injuries has not been released.
During the initial response, residents in the area were asked to shelter in place, and the public was advised to avoid the scene.
Later that evening, police identified 35-year-old Eduardo Castañeda as a person of interest. He was located and arrested just after 11 p.m.
Authorities say there is no ongoing threat to public safety. The investigation remains active, and additional details are expected in an upcoming press release.
