ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico’s annual tax-free holiday is set to return July 25–27, offering families a chance to save on back-to-school essentials.
The state will suspend gross receipts tax collection on qualifying items during the three-day period. The timing aligns with students preparing to return to classrooms across the state.
Eligible items include:
- Clothing and shoes priced under $100 per item
- Computers (desktops, laptops, tablets, notebooks) priced up to $1,000
- Computer hardware up to $500
- School supplies used in general education, priced under $30 per item
The tax break applies to both in-store and online purchases, as long as the items meet the state’s criteria.
More information, including a full list of qualifying items, is available on the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department’s website.
