ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A section of Silver Avenue between 4th and 5th Street in downtown Albuquerque will remain closed through the end of 2025 as crews begin work on a major skybridge construction project at Alvarado Square.
The closure will allow for the safe operation of cranes and heavy equipment as part of a project to repair the roof of the skybridge, which has experienced ongoing water intrusion issues. The project was approved by the Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners on April 8 and is being managed by the Facilities and Fleet Management Department.
What to Expect
- Road Closure: Silver Ave. between 4th & 5th St.
- Duration: Now through December 2025
- Pedestrian Access: Remains open
- Building Access: Alvarado Square will stay open during construction
The improvements are part of a broader effort to modernize infrastructure in the area. A separate proposal is also under review to add bicycling-centric upgrades along Buena Vista in Albuquerque.
