Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — In a town that relies on tourism, the flood waters in Ruidoso will leave a lasting impact on the bottom line for the village. Ruidoso Mayor Lynn Crawford announced today that the Rainbow Futurity, the second leg of the Quarter Horse Triple Crown Series, will not take place this weekend because of the damage. During a press conference Crawford said the Futurity is part of a series of multimillion-dollar races. As a result a lot of that revenue will not be coming into town in the form of hotel revenues, restaurants, and purchases from our businesses. In a radio interview later Crawford said some horses at the track were lost or missing, and the track would not function for the remainder of the season, and could possibly be done after 77 years in operation.
