
Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Everything about the flooding in Ruidoso is historic, unfortunately. Officials say preliminary assessments indicate 35 to 50+ homes have been damaged or destroyed in the flood. There have been an estimated 65 water rescues across the village as muddy waters swept through the community. Village officials report say they rescued people from vehicles, trees, and those who were trapped in flooded homes. The waters claimed the lives of three people, including two children, who were reported missing from an RV park alongside the Rio Ruidoso The victims were one adult male, a 7-year-old male, and a 4-year-old female. The Rio Ruidoso reached historic water levels rising to 20 feet high, eclipsing a record set in 2024 of 15 feet.
