
LOS LUNAS, N.M. — A major break in the investigation into the devastating fires in Los Lunas: police have arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for setting the blazes that destroyed multiple homes and injured over a dozen firefighters.
Authorities say 31-year-old Jacob LeHair turned himself in to the Los Lunas Police Department. He now faces charges of arson and criminal damage to property.
The Cotton 1 and Cotton 2 fires, part of what officials are calling the Desert Willow Complex, tore through the area, destroying 11 homes and injuring 12 firefighters. As of the latest update, the Cotton Fire is 70% contained, while the Cotton 2 Fire remains at 40%.
Officials continue to monitor the area closely as containment efforts progress.
