KKOB News Update:
A teenager has been sentenced in connection with a deadly shooting at a downtown Albuquerque nightclub.
17-year-old Louis Mugishawimana will serve 15 years behind bars after pleading no contest to first-degree murder. The charges stem from a late 2023 incident at Knockouts Gentlemen’s Club, where Mugishawimana shot and killed 35-year-old Earl Romo.
The shooting happened in the early morning hours, and police say Mugishawimana was still at the scene when they arrived. He was detained after a witness wrestled him to the ground. Authorities later identified him through a DNA search warrant after he initially refused to give his name.
Mugishawimana will not be eligible for parole until he completes his full sentence.
