Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Kirtland Air Force Base is honoring one of its own—Hugo, a nine-year-old German Shepherd, has officially retired after seven years of service. The military working dog was certified in narcotics detection and patrol, logging over 9,000 hours on duty. Hugo completed more than 2,500 facility sweeps and supported 17 narcotics raids. A retirement ceremony was held June 4. He now lives with a former handler, an airman stationed in California.
