Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — New Mexico law allows the governor to allocate emergency funding in increments of up to $750,000, and Governor Lujan Grisham is taking advantage of it. Since the first announcement of National Guard being deployed to assist APD in Albuquerque, the governor has allocated $2,250,000 in emergency funding to support Operation Zia Shield. Some National Guard personnel have already reported for duty, and others are expected to report this Memorial Weekend. They’ll assist with the Prisoner Transport Unit, Field Operations and the APD Real Time Crime Center. There’s no limit on how many executive orders can be issued for one emergency.
