Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Gabriella Blakey Superintendent of Albuquerque Public Schools sent an email to parents this morning, addressing recent incidents at APS where students were found to have a firearm on them and the many schools in the district have been the subject of online threats. Dr. Blakey wrote, our schools today are facing situations that would have been unimaginable in years past. No one is happy to hear that, and I’m saddened beyond measure to have to write it. The Superintendent went on to say how they are dealing with these issues. Staff members at APS, now wear a Centegix badge. A device that, when pressed, can call APS Police Department officers to the site. It’s recently created Integrated Support Team. APS Police working with Albuquerque Police Department and the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, analyzing online threats against the school.
