Mom and roaming toddler

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Lajayah Paz has been charged after her toddler was found roaming near an intersection in southwest Albuquerque, early Friday morning. Bernalillo County deputies responded to Rio Bravo and Coors after a Mesa Detection security guard called in that a child was walking in lanes of traffic just after 4 a.m. The criminal complaint states, the boy was dirty and wasn’t wearing pants, socks, or shoes. The 3-year-old had stepped in glass and was non-verbal. According to police, Paz called APD around 6:00 a.m. to report her child was missing. She claimed to be a heavy sleeper and didn’t hear the 3-year-old leave, saying the child had done this previously. Pez faces a charge of abandonment or abuse of a child.
