Belen Police department officer involved shooting

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — The Belen Police Department requested the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau to probe an officer-involved shooting involving the BPD on East River Road Saturday night around six. BPD officers were called to a suspicious vehicle parked on the train track along Jarales Road. Officers determined the truck was reported stolen from Albuquerque. While waiting on a tow truck to take the vehicle away, a bystander approached officers and told them two men on a four-wheeler ATV were seen around the truck. BPD officers located the ATV and the males at the Circle K on Reinken Avenue in Belen. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the four-wheeler, but it fled the area. There was a pursuit during which a suspect fired shots at police. An officer returned fire. The ATV got away. The suspects aren’t identified, and their whereabouts unknown.
