Rumble strip noise

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — The New Mexico Department of Transportation’s addressing noise complaints from residents in Tijeras Canyon. Rumble strips intended to prevent accidents is instead a source of sleepless nights for nearby locals. The uproar stems from NMDOT’s decision to place the rumble strips atop the painted line on I-40 from Carnuel to Sedillo, rather than the customary 16 inches outside of it. Cabinet Secretary for NMDOT, Rickey Serna, says there are plans to fix the issue by covering the entire rumble strip and readjusting the placement to the standard 16 inches from the painted line. The corrective process is scheduled to start next month.
