BERNCO Commissioners approve funding for roadway resurfacing projects, vehicles

Bernalillo County, NM (KKOB) — The Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners this evening approved the use of $545,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for roadway resurfacing services for three roadways within District 4. They include the corridor of San Rafael from Browning to Lowell; the Tierra Monte Subdivision; and Sandia Heights north of Tramway Lane.

“These stretches of road need attention. These funds will pave the way to help make them enjoyable to travel on once again safely,” says District 4 Bernalillo County Commissioner Walt Benson.

Commissioners also approved the use of $2.2 million in ARPA funds for the purchase of approximately 35 vehicles in need of replacement for the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, Bernalillo County Fire and Rescue, the Metropolitan Detention Center, and general county fleet. Eighty percent of the funding will be used for public safety vehicle replacements and 20% for general county vehicle replacements.
