Montoya Atkinson pleads guilty

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Thursday 26-year-old Procopio Montoya Atkinson pleaded guilty to five crimes. Atkinson was arrested after what the Department of Justice calls a “violent crime spree” that occurred in late 2021. He robbed an Albuquerque Dollar General store using a firearm in November that year. Then, about a month later, Atkinson assaulted a U.S. Marshal Service Task Force Officer during an arrest attempt. A few days after that, Atkinson committed a carjacking. The DOJ accused Atkinson of shooting a driver after running out of gas and getting into a struggle. He faces at least 10 years behind bars, but could be sentenced up to life.
