Elephant Butte upgrade

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — New Mexico State Parks officials are set to begin a $1 million upgrade project to the comfort stations at Elephant Butte Lake State Park. The project begins today, continuing through August. While construction’s ongoing, campers can use vault and portable toilets. Along with improving the comfort stations, State Parks is also making other improvements to the RV dump station and sewer services. The $18 million Lakeshore Road improvement project’s still being worked. Crews expect to complete in the spring of 2025. State and federal funds are used for it, to enhance the safety and access of vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians traveling to Elephant Butte.
