Albuquerque Fire Rescue promotes 49 members

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Thursday, Albuquerque Fire Rescue celebrated the promotion of 49 members. This ceremony recognized promotions at every rank and the inception of Shift Commanders. Designated “Shift Commanders” have now been implemented to oversee operations for the 4 Battalions, 22 Stations and 187 on-duty personnel. These commanders are responsible for the utilization of personnel and resources to ensure the best possible prevention, mitigation, and all–hazards emergency response services to the community

These promotions are a testament to the dedication of AFR’s members to the community and the department. The new badges and bugles are a visual symbol of rank, but what isn’t seen is the countless hours of training and studying that go into the certification and promotional process. AFR is continually adapting to the needs of the community and its members. The department depends on every rank for its success but its progress is driven by those that provide solutions to the challenges that come with rank. Today, Albuquerque and AFR celebrates the 49 members of AFR that have risen to the challenge and pinned on their new badges.

“These promotions reflect a profound commitment to excellence, public safety and service to the families of Albuquerque that this department demonstrates with the only the highest of standards,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “AFR continues to be one of America’s finest and busiest departments, and a model for other cities to emulate.”

“49 promotions across every rank is an event to celebrate. The hard work of each and every member does not go unnoticed, and that hard work is what defines AFR as one of the best departments in the nation,” said Fire Chief Emily Jaramillo. “Congratulations to all those promoted and thank you for your devotion to AFR and service to Albuquerque.”
