Olivas sentenced

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — One of the parents accused of child abuse after one of their children overdosed on fentanyl in May took a plea deal and was sentenced Wednesday. David Olivas of Albuquerque pled no contest to child abuse not resulting in death, and possession of a controlled substance. On scene medics determined the child had overdosed and had to use Narcan to revive them. APD found a baggie of fentanyl in the open and accessible to both children in the home. Judge Bruce Fox sentenced Olivas to four and a half years of supervised probation. The child’s mother Chanel Gallegos has pled not guilty to numerous child abuse charges.
