Pallet Village in the City Different

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Over 350 people live on Santa Fe streets, and the city has setup a temporary city-sanctioned camp. To address homelessness, the Christ Lutheran Church parking lot is what city officials call a “Pallet Village.” The pilot program has 10 shelters at the church for the next year. Life Link is operating the shelters, with case management and employment services. The first group of residents move in next month, with 24/7 security. The million-dollar project was approved last April. Funding for the 25 pallets comes from federal and local money. The city hopes other groups are willing to use their property for the remaining pallets.
