BCSO deputy-involved shooting following vehicle pursuit

Bernalillo County, NM (KKOB) — Sunday at approximately 2:30 PM, Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle, described as a maroon Mustang, in the area of 2nd and Osuna.
Upon locating and making contact with the vehicle, it was found to be occupied by two male individuals. The driver of the Mustang refused to comply with deputies’ commands and proceeded to drive toward the deputies in a threatening manner, prompting a pursuit when the vehicle fled the scene.
The pursuit concluded in the parking lot of the Carpenters Union at 3900 A Pan American Fwy NE, where
our deputies discharged at least one round. There were no injuries to deputies or the suspects as a result of this incident. Both occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody without further conflict.
An extensive investigation of the scene is underway, and the area will remain closed while this process is
completed. The Multi Agency Task Force has been called to the scene and is conducting a thorough
investigation into the shooting.
We are still in the early stages of this investigation and will provide more information as it becomes available.
We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding during this time.
