Bobcats with rabies

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — The New Mexico Department of Health has confirmed that two bobcats have tested positive for rabies in New Mexico. According to the DOH, a man was attacked by one of the cats near his home in Grant County. He is receiving shots to prevent rabies from developing. The second bobcat attacked a dog in Sierra County; the dog was up to date on his rabies vaccine, and will be monitored for 45 days. The Department of Health reminds community members that any wild animals seen acting sick or abnormally should be reported to local animal control officers or the Department of Game and Fish.
