Senate Republican Leader Greg Baca says Clean Fuel Standards bill is wrong for NM

Santa Fe, NM (KKOB) — Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed House Bill 41 Tuesday, Clean Transportation Fuel Standards, into law. The measure now gives expanded authority to the unelected Environmental Improvement Board (EIB) to impose a carbon credit system to reduce carbon emissions from transportation fuels.

Senate Republican Leader, Senator Greg Baca (R-Belen), issued the following statement regarding the bill’s signing:

“This action will harm hard-working New Mexicans who now will have to spend more of their hard-earned dollars at the gas pump. In order to appease radical environmentalists, the Governor and Democrat leaders have targeted our New Mexico-based producers and our vital energy economy. Harmful efforts like this must not go unchecked, and this November, I hope voters remember those responsible for rabid inflation and skyrocketing gas prices.”
