Funds for the bosque

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — $1.6 million secured by state leaders will serve to help improve Albuquerque’s bosque. Known as the Rio Grande Valley State Park, the bosque stretches 4,300 acres along the Rio Grande, and is managed by Albuquerque’s Parks and Recreation Department. Besides new signage, Sen. Antonio Maestas says the funds will be devoted to remove hazardous fuel, dead logs and trees, make dirt pathways and get rid of invasive, non-native species that are taking over the bosque. Additionally, there will be major kiosks at all of the trailheads so people can refer to a map and information which will help in understanding the historical and cultural connections of the river.
