Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Just after midnight this morning, APD Officers were dispatched to San Antonio Dr NE and Louisiana Blvd NE in reference to a fatal motorcycle vs pedestrian crash. The Fatal Crash Unit responded to the scene to investigate the crash.
Through the investigation, it was discovered that the motorcycle driver was traveling eastbound on San Antonio Dr NE with a passenger. At Louisiana Blvd NE just east of the intersection, a male pedestrian ran into the roadway. He then turned and stopped in front of the motorcycle. Based on statements, it is believed that the motorcycle had a green light and the right of way. The motorcycle struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver and pedestrian were transported to UNM Hospital for minor injuries. Both the driver and passenger are expected to make a full recovery.
At this time, it appears that the pedestrian is at fault for the crash. Next of kin were notified.
