NMSU summary investigation results

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Thursday, NMSU released an executive summary from Rodey Law Firm’s investigation regarding the Nov. 19th shooting on the UNM campus. It involved Aggies men’s basketball player Mike Peake. A Rodey spokesperson says, “The purpose of our investigation is to make recommendations to NMSU with respect to its institutional approach to, among other things, team travel, curfews and interactions with law enforcement.” The law firm issued six recommendations, including: team curfews, more detailed weapons policy, communication with law enforcement, strengthened institutional culture within NMSU athletics, University oversight regarding student athletes, and revising the student athlete handbook. NMSU contracted with the Albuquerque-based law firm in December to lead an external, third-party investigation into the events surrounding the shooting.
